In May, MacDonald & Owen donated a load of ponderosa pine to an organization called Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP). Sleep in Heavenly Peace is an American non-profit organization that builds and delivers beds to children who don’t have beds to sleep in. The organization was founded back in 2012 by Luke and Heidi Mickelson in Twin Falls, Idaho. As of November 2019, the organization has 200 chapters around the United States and has built and provided over 35,000 beds.
Representatives of MacDonald & Owen Lumber Company were fortunate to meet with the La Crosse, WI chapter at a local event. After several conversations our team determined how we could best join them in their cause.
MacDonald & Owen donated several truckloads of 1×2, 1×4, and 2×6 pine boards over the course of several weeks. This was enough timber to produce approx. 4,000+ beds for children in need.
We encourage you to get in contact with your local Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapter to find out how you partner to this wonderful organization. SHP accepts material and cash donations. There are also some great corporate tax benefits we encourage you to look in to as well. To find out more about SHP, visit their website at www.shpbeds.org.
