Job Descriptions
- Feed materials into machines specialized for wood components manufacturing.
- Handle, sort, and stack product by batch and order description
- Prepare and assemble orders according to customer specifications

Position Summary:Â The Lumber Inspector position is responsible for handling, inspecting, and grading lumber. This is a skilled position that requires previous NHLA grading experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect lumber with integrity – verifying grade and color specs meet NHLA standards
- Demonstrate understanding of the following:
- M&O’s Core Product Grading Manual
- Internal Limitations & Allowances
- Thick Stock and Snipe Tolerance
- Packaging SOPs
- Utilize Playbook to maximize Pit Gain
Safety
- Always promote a safe work environment
- Follow and enforce all safety rules
- Maintain tidy working areas through daily cleanup
- Look for ways to improve safety of campus
Quality
- Be attentive to details in your daily work
- Record positive and negative quality notes in batches
- Follow SOPs to ensure quality of work meets expectations

Production

Minimum Requirements:
- A working knowledge of the NHLA lumber rules
- A firm understanding of MacDonald & Owen’s color sorts
- A good working knowledge of MacTrac software in particular the batch section and order status
- Good verbal communication skills to communicate with lumber handlers, planer operator, production managers and sales personnel
- Exposure to dust particles and loud machinery
- Able to work up to 8-12 hour shifts
- Able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs. repeatedly throughout work shift
- Able to stand 9 hours a day
- Able to stoop, twist, bend, reach, push, pull, grasp and perform repetitive motions
